What a strange and silly book and just what I needed after the last one. I found out about this book on The Millions. It's a great site about books if you have not checked it out. I really enjoyed the Year in Reading features.
For most of the book Charlie reminded me a little bit of Flashman. The humor is quick and cutting. The subject is light. Until the end. Then it got a little dark. Which is what the reviewer on The Millions mentioned as well now that I have gone back and looked at the post. I'm mulling over whether I will check out the other two titles in the series. This one made for witty reading on the bus and train. And who can resist a sidekick named Jock Strapp?
